We're looking for a reliable office volunteer to help support Kaiser Hospice's Bereavement Program. High-schoolers are welcome to apply!
The Kaiser Hospice program provides care for patients at the end-of-life, and our Bereavement Program provides support for these patients' families after their loved one has died. You will help prepare supportive and caring mailings for families to help them cope with loss and grief. Your task will involve placing a letter, support-group flyers, inspirational, and educational materials into envelopes, sealing the envelopes, and posting them. You'll have opportunities to work alongside medical care personnel and will learn about Kaiser Hospice's Bereavement Program. You will also be invited to attend our weekly care team meeting (Optional), which is attended by our doctors, nurses, social workers, and other supportive care team. (High-schoolers can attend this meeting throughout the summer.) Please note that although this is a medical office, we do not have patients in this location. It is a business setting where our staff perform administrative functions to support our patients.
The location of this volunteer position is: Kaiser Permanente's Hospice office at 900 Veterans Boulevard in Redwood City. Due to logistics and traffic, we will only consider applicants who live in nearby communities.
Hours and days very flexible. We require 8 hours per month, but you can decide WHEN you work, as long as it's during business hours (Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30pm). We do absolutely require that you commit to volunteering for at least six-months. If you think this is a good match for you, please apply!
