Thanksgiving ... Beyond the Meal

ORGANIZATION: Trusted Mentors

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to share a meal and serve in the community. What happens after the meal? Become a mentor and find out.

At Trusted Mentors your service will help bring a new season of hope to a person who may be coming out of jail, moving off the streets, or transitioning out of foster care. The gift of mentorship brings about a sense of renewal, hope, and a new vision of a bright future to the clients which we serve. By doing so you’ll help reduce the chances of them going back to the street or being re-incarcerated. After training and being matched with a mentee, we ask that you foster a relationship with your mentee for a year, in which you meet with this person for six hours each month. These meetings can be over coffee, at the library, or a Trusted Mentor’s sponsored activity. By joining our organization you will meet people who are also committed to making Indianapolis a better community at our various fundraisers and events.

Mission Statement

Trusted Mentors connects trained volunteer mentors with at risk adults to help more people stay housed and out of prison.

Description

Trusted Mentors connects trained, volunteer mentors with at risk adults to help more people stay housed and out of prison. We accomplish our mission by:

  • Providing quality training to equip volunteers with the resources and techniques needed to be effective mentors;
  • Matching adults referred by partnering agencies with trained mentors; and
  • Fostering on-going mentoring relationships by supplying useful information, guidance, and positive activities.
Trusted Mentors is recognized as the leading provider of mentoring relationships that empower at-risk adults to remain housed and avoid incarceration.

Mentors come from all walks of life. Whether you are a business professional or formerly homeless, your knowledge and life experiences can help one of our mentees make the positive changes they desire for a more successful future.

We partner with multiple agencies throughout Indianapolis, but we don’t duplicate services. The agencies maintain the case management - and we do what we do best, provide the mentors. Referring agencies utilize Trusted Mentors because it is an effective and professional organization.

We mentor change - and it matters.
