ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army, Pasadena Tabernacle

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 2 people are interested

A Christmas Ambassador's primary purpose is to be a friendly, positive representative to the community as they stand at approved locations ringing a bell next to the red kettle stand. It is the responsibility of the bell ringer to greet customers as they ring the bell to indicate The Salvation Army’s presence at the location, collecting monetary donations for The Salvation Army.

During the season we love to include as many volunteers as possible, but we also hire bellringers in order to make sure all our locations can be covered.

If you are willing to volunteer for a shift please see our signup: https://volunteer.usawest.org/KettleShiftSelectionPage.aspx?ID=03a1a95b-ca55-44db-af63-a5b2b285dfa7
Additional locations may be available, please call for more info.

If you are interested in applying for a hired position please contact 626 773 4400, and ask for Heather or Kate.

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

The Salvation Army in Pasadena serves the San Gabriel community a variety of ways following their founders initial desire to bring "soup, soap, and salvation" to the streets of London. Their Pasadena location includes a five-day-a-week food pantry and social service referrals, 75 apartments for low-income seniors, after-school programming in partnership with the Pasadena Police Activities League, a vibrant place of worship, a gymnasium hosting indoor soccer and basketball leagues, and rentable community meeting spaces. Nearby, the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center serves 125 individuals in a six-month, cost-free residential addiction recovery program. And of course, we have a thrift store.

The Salvation Army has had a presence in Pasadena for over 131 years.

"Our mission is straightforward: to meet the needs of our neighbors, whatever that need might be," says Capt. Terry Masango, who leads The Salvation Army’s efforts in Pasadena.

Join the Salvation Army’s Fight for Good by donating online or in person at the kettles this season. Volunteer as an individual or organization to ring the bell by calling 626 773 4400, or read more about The Salvation Army’s work in Pasadena at pasadena.salvationarmy.org
