The Treasurer, in consultation with the President, will review the financial affairs of the organization. Some of the responsibilities of the Treasurer include such basic tasks as reconciling bank statements monthly and monitoring and comparing revenues and expenses incurred. However, the overall financial management of the organization would be handled by a professional outside accountant.

The Treasurer would also be responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reports to the Board in consultation with the President, along with providing input on financial matters.

The Treasurer would have knowledge and understanding of the organization’s financial reporting requirements and would keep the Board apprised of the overall assessment of the organization’s fiscal health. The Treasurer would assist an outside source in completing required financial reporting forms (including the IRS Form 990) in a timely manner and making these forms available for the Board’s review.

A confidentiality agreement would be required to be signed since the individual would have direct knowledge and access to financial documents. Minimum qualifications needed: Microsoft Excel knowledge, basic computer knowledge, and basic financial experience. If this sounds like a position you would like to volunteer for while helping others, we encourage you to apply.
