ITHAKA LAND, INC

Here at Ithaka, we have been housing low-income individuals and families for 38.5 years. We currently offer two types of Transitional Housing with Ithaka: Low-Barrier Transitional Housing (for individuals) and Service-Enhanced Transitional Housing (for families). We currently house more than 135 residents at two transitional homes, one apartment building, a few multi-family homes, and fifteen single family homes.

We are in need of French Language Interpreters to work with one of our families. This would include translating at leasing appointments to help go over leases and answer questions, as well as sitting in on case management appointments to help translate for our case manager. Due to the varying need, there is no set shift for these meetings. We are looking for someone with flexibility during the work week. We value building positive relationships with our residents, and look forward to having a volunteer that can help work towards that goal!

Holding property, in perpetuity, for the benefit of people with limited incomes and promoting the value of living in an inclusive neighborhood.

Description

About Us

Incorporated in April of 1981, Ithaka Land, Inc., owns and maintains properties for the benefit of low-income people. We provide both transitional and permanant rentals primarily serving those individuals earning less than 30% of the area median income adjusted for family size. Also known as Ithaka Land Trust, we hold property "in trust" and "in perpetuity" on behalf of people with limited incomes. We currently house more than 125 residents at two hospitality houses, two apartment buildings, two four-unit buildings, and fifteen houses.

The land trust benefits from our two most-valued assets: volunteers who make much of our work possible, and residents who give back to our organization. The number of people we serve remains small, allowing the land trust to maintain personal relationships, and adding a sense of community to our day-to-day operations.
