Position Overview : Open up a homebound patron’s world to books and learning. Provide vital links of friendship and service to local residents in their retirement apartments, assisted living facilities, or individual residences by delivering library materials on a monthly basis. An ideal volunteer will have good customer service and communication skills, patience, and willingness to follow directions. Experience with disabled or vulnerable populations is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone who :

  • Wants to help the Library and members of the Lewiston community
  • Has a friendly, willing demeanor
  • Is able to pass a background check
  • Has a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Has a dependable vehicle with current insurance
  • Uses discretion regarding patrons’ confidentiality
  • Is able to bend/stoop/lift up to 20 lbs

Time Commitment : 2-4 Hours per month on a regular schedule

Length of Commitment : Ongoing

Training : Training will be provided at orientation. Trained Homebound staff will travel with you on your first delivery. In addition, the homebound staff is available on an ongoing basis to answer questions and provide other assistance as needed.
