Senior Charity Care Foundation (SCCF) is looking for inspired individuals who want to serve the community and give back to some of our greatest generations. As an AmeriCorps member of SCCF, you will obtain real-world experience by serving Utah’s seniors obtaining critical healthcare needs.
In the state of Utah, over 200,000 of our seniors live in poverty. Unable to afford basic health, dental and vision costs, many suffer in silence. Some have little to no family support and make due with minimal and insufficient public assistance.
Founded in 2011, SCCF has stepped in to help fill this gap. Our Mobile Dental Clinics and Mobile Vision Clinics serve dozens of care facilities from Weber County down to Utah County and surrounding areas. Treating hundreds of seniors on a donated or heavily subsidized basis, we are looking to expand the breadth and quality of our services - including a new Audiology program.
As an AmeriCorps member of SCCF, you will have a unique opportunity to be on the front line of service, expanding and developing our efforts to offer direct, targeted services to seniors in need. Duties will include:
- Promoting SCCF programs through senior outreach and recruitment
- Assisting seniors with the application process to ensure successful enrollment
- Generating operation plans and hosting mobile clinics
- Provide follow-up with seniors to ensure services were successful
- Training and management of community volunteers
- Other responsibilities as assigned
SCCF provides both full-time and half-time AmeriCorps service positions. A full-time position requires a commitment of 1700 service hours to be completed by September 30, 2020. A stipend of $1,166.00 per month is given to cover living expenses. A half-time position requires a commitment of 900 service hours to be completed by September 30, 2020. A stipend of $583.00 per month is given to cover living expenses. SCCF is proud to offer the Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to all members for tuition, student loans and education-related expenses upon successful completion of this commitment.

Mission Statement
Our Vision...Improve the quality of life for our seniors in care facilities and senior apartments by addressing essential unmet needs. Ultimately serving seniors who reside in the Intermountain West, our current focus is on serving qualified seniors in Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Weber Counties. Our Purpose...The purpose of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance to those in senior care settings and senior apartments who require care, services or support but have exhausted all other potential funding sources and do not have the financial resources to pay. Our Logo...the heart puzzle logo represents the missing piece in a senior's life and the fulfillment of that piece through the work of the Senior Charity Care Foundation.
Description
Founded in 2011...
as St. Joseph Villa Foundation for Charity Care to honor the legacy of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word by continuing the tradition of providing charity care for seniors in need while building resources to meet future charity care needs. The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word came to Salt Lake in 1947, leaving the area in 2011, following the sale of St. Joseph Villa to a for-profit corporation.
In May 2013 the Foundation officially changed its name to Senior Charity Care Foundation to better represent its work of providing charity care to qualified seniors in any care facility or senior apartment in our service area.
In 2016, the Board of Directors, Friends of the Foundation and President met to update our strategic plan to guide us through December 2019.
Our President, Beth Ehrhardt, attended and graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Cohort 14 in 2017. These classes helped us develop our business plan for growth. Our growth plan is two-fold: to expand our mobile services to include audiology and vision services; and to expand to cover the entire state of Utah and to begin services in two additional states in three to five years.
