Looking to meet new people? Not shy and want to contribute to a better Harlem? Join in helping one of Harlem's most exciting and progressive groups for their Auction Committee. LiLY ( Lifeforce in Later Years) provides free-of-charge love, care, and support to our oldest neighbors (80 years and up). Through the auction (donated items yeilding donations for the nonprofit), LiLY's services remain free and we can grow the number of elderly we serve. As a member of the Auction Committee - you will help find and present an array of items that will be up-for-bid at the organization's May Gala and Fundraiser. The LiLY Auction Committee includes 7 locals who love the spirit of community here, enjoy networking, are able to do "the ask" of our list of past and new supporters for auction items. You will meet every 2 weeks from now through early May. Meetings will be held in Morningside Heights and coffee/snacks provided. The Auction Chair has yet be be named; so this is a great leadership opportunity!

Mission Statement
Lifeforce in Later Years (LiLY) provides life-affirming programs by directly engaging the issues that face elderly people in need. By connecting elders with volunteers in forming friendships, stimulating groups, celebratory events, and addressing individual needs, LiLY strives in helping elders to remain active in their community while living in their longtime homes. LiLY supports "villages" in New York City's Morningside Heights and West Harlem serving elders who generally are 80+ years old.
Description
LifeForce in Later Years provide life-affirming programs, all aimed at confronting the issues that face elderly people in need, including:
- a culture that has made invisible the plight of the very old and their families- an inadequate health care system
- living in a time when the number of elders 80+ who are living alone is mushrooming
- nursing homes without the capacity to fill the array of individual needs of elder residents
