The vision of Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) is that people who work do not live in poverty. JARC works towards this vision by providing low income workers and community members with high quality skills training, educational opportunities and support services.
JARC is looking for a volunteer tutor who can help fulfill this mission by tutoring an adult learner on the South Side of Chicago at Woodson Regional Library. The adult learner needs a tutor who can meet with her on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. She needs help with reading and math.
Tutoring sessions will last for 1.5 hours once a week. We ask that volunteers make a commitment of at least 6 months. The volunteer tutor will be provided with pre-service training and will have access to JARC's library of curriculum resources.

The Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) promotes strong communities, businesses and households to ensure that people who work do not live in poverty. JARC builds healthy communities through workforce, economic, and human development. Our mission is to help people improve their skills so they can advance both personally and professionally.
Description
JARC is a key regional site for the Center for Working Families (CWF), an innovative program that is intended to increase financial stability among low-income residents in neighborhoods throughout Chicago. CWF helps families and individuals become more financially secure by providing clients with Financial Education, Income Supports, and Employment Services. We are accomplishing this goal through every phase of the job seeking process, from initial screening and overcoming barriers to one-on-one coaching and resume writing. We also provide one-on-one tutoring opportunities for adult learners. JARC's training programs target in-demand industries (CNC Machine Operation, Welding, IT) and occupations that offer family sustaining wages, benefits and authentic career paths.
