Many Opportunities to Serve Veterans in Ann Arbor

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is looking for volunteers to help support Veterans and the programs that benefit them. There are several different opportunities available.

We need volunteers to:

-Provide office help (printing, answering phones, filing, and restocking bathroom supplies and domestic violence resource brochures in the women's restroom). A volunteer who is a woman is needed for this role.

-Read and analyze patient experience survey results and make recommendations to improve services offered to veterans

-Be a liaison between hospital staff, patients, and their families during surgeries (making sure patients are comfortable, families are fully informed about happenings, etc.)

-Help older veterans navigate the new technology in the lobby used to call for transportation

-Staff the Welcome Center. Direct visitors, be helpful to those in wheelchairs, drive a golf cart through the hospital.

-Comfort those sitting through lengthy blood treatments like chemo and dialysis. Serve food, water, tea, offer blankets, adjust chairs, assemble welcome kits, talk to and visit patients.

-Offer friendly visits to those in inpatient wings, either in the nursing home setting or general areas.

Location of work: In Ann Arbor near the corner of Fuller Rd and Huron Parkway.
