ORGANIZATION: PASS THE CLASS

  • 5 people are interested

We are a non-profit OSU-affiliated organization called Pass the Class that aims to overcome the educational disparities seen in low-income households. We have a team of OSU undergraduate tutors that currently provide our academic services to Star House, a homeless youth drop in center, and Franklin Manor Apartments, an affordable housing complex to help at-risk students. We want to expand our services to more areas including an elementary, middle, and high school. However, start-up cost are preventing us from accomplishing our vision. We need the help of a fundraising coordinator to help set-up events that can provide us funds to pair our tutors with homeless or at-risk students. You will work closely with our executive board team as we come up with ideas to raise funds and start these events! Also, you will work with us to help recruit donors.

About PASS THE CLASS

Location:

7172 Achill drive, Dublin, OH 43017, US

Mission Statement

Pass the Class provides tutoring and career advice for underprivileged and homeless youth (ages 11-24). Tutors meet with youth to help them study, apply for college, create resumes, stay organized, and find jobs. We believe that everyone deserves a fair chance at an education no matter their background.

Description

Pass the Class is a non-profit that originally started as a student organization at Ohio State in 2017 with students coming in to work with homeless youth at the Star House where tutors helped youth enroll in college, keep up to date on their coursework, and find jobs. Today, Pass the Class is expanding its operations to new sites and looking to expand the range of community members involved in the organization.
