The American Red Cross relies on volunteers to the help prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Volunteers make up over 90 percent of the Disaster workforce and make it possible to respond to nearly 70,000 disasters every year, most of them home and apartment fires. Disaster volunteers also provide preparedness services and information before disaster strikes and assist those who have experienced a disaster with their recovery.

The Preparedness Division provides appropriate preparedness programming within a community to assist community members to prepare for home fires and other disasters. You will assist in spreading the knowledge of how to be prepared before, during and after a disaster.

The American Red Cross has many different programs in which we teach the community. One of the most well known is the Pillow Case Project.

This position is perfect for those who like to teach and work with kids. However, that is not a must.
