ORGANIZATION: AMERICAN RED CROSS

Purpose:

Assist Blood Donors through the blood donation process

Reports To / Partners With:

Team Supervisor or Charge Staff, partners with Collections Team and Biomed Volunteer Management Team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and check-in donor, ensure donor reads pre-donation materials (before via RapidPass or during check-in), schedule next appointment, offer promotional items when available, encourage best donation process
  • Ensure canteen area is clean, restocked and donors are re-hydrated after donation procedure.
  • Ambassadors will be trained to do both jobs.

Time Commitment:

* 5-hour shift, 1+days/month typical hours between 9am-7pm.
* Generally, weekdays Monday-Friday.
* Occasional Saturdays available, rare Sundays available

Qualifications:

Requires good oral communication, friendly, customer services skills, and the ability to relate effectively to people of diverse backgrounds and education levels.

Comfort with computers and ability to enter basic information in database is preferred.

Training:

Donor Ambassador Orientation and Training (1-2 hours) before first blood drive, On the Job Instruction with mentor/trainer, Quarterly Refresher Series (1 hour), occasional skill or program updates.
