ORGANIZATION: Action for Boston Community Development

ABCD’s Youth Services Department is looking for WorkSMART Mentors to provide mentorship for program participants residing in Boston. This program aims to introduce Boston's youth to career opportunities and post-secondary education and training opportunities. The program is available to high school youth ages 14-21. This program is a wonderful way for volunteers to give back by mentoring WorkSMART students and sharing tips and tricks to succeeding in college and beyond.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop positive and meaningful relationships with youth in a group setting over a period of 6 months
  • Lead conversations regarding their experience and discuss the job and life skills needed to be successful
  • Support youth and/or provide information for youth on life skills, career opportunities and/or post-secondary education and training opportunities
  • Minimum of 4 hours of mentor group activity per month on a biweekly schedule

Skills & Qualifications:

Individuals who have current or previous working experience. Prior experience with youth mentorship is preferred. Applicants must possess a high school diploma/GED and if actively working in the field must have appropriate credentials.

Length of Commitment:

January 2020 - June 2020, 6 months
