Heartland Hospice is seeking kind, compassionate, and dependable volunteers to provide respite for family members of our hospice patients. As a hospice volunteer, you will be an important part of the hospice team. As a Relief Sitting Friendly Volunteer, you can provide much-needed break to your patients families or their caregivers. Many of these caregivers are not able to leave the house as many patients require 24 hour care and are not able to be left alone. Respite Sitters help by providing caregivers a chance to go grocery shopping and run errands, go get a haircut or to a doctors appointment, or even as simple as allowing them to get a couple hours rest and relaxation without worrying no one is with their loved one. As a Relief sitter, it will also give the patients a friendly face with someone new. Volunteers can:

- Sit and talk
- Reading and writing with the patient
- Playing games
- Sharing hobbies
- Playing music
- Watching TV/Movies with patient
- Helping with household needs
-And Much Much More!!!

We provide full training in Hospice philosophy and volunteer duties. Orientation and on-going training provided! Background and reference check required. Volunteer will be driving to patients home for visits, so you will need a reliable mode of transportation. We can work with you schedule!

Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer directly with patients. No previous training or volunteer work required. Orientation/Training provide at Heartland. We are not taking any court ordered community service volunteers at this time. You must have your own reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to visit patients.
