About COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES OF THE WIREGRASS REGION

Location:

211 W ADAMS ST, DOTHAN, AL 36303, US

Mission Statement

Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Wiregrass Region provide abused, neglected or abandoned children with a highly trained volunteer to advocate for the child’s best interest in judiciary dependency proceedings before family courts. Our staff and volunteers work in conjunction with the judges, lawyers, and social workers to help ensure children receive appropriate care and support while navigating the court, child welfare, and foster care systems. The one-on-one contact between a child who needs a stable relationship with a caring adult and the volunteer who is facilitating this role without compensation and with no competing interests, is substantially different than contact between a child and an agency staff member. CASA volunteers truly change the lives of the children they serve. Our goal here in the Wiregrass is to have an active volunteer assigned and dedicated to each child in the child welfare system in the Wiregrass.

Description

CASA of the Wiregrass Region was formed on Dec 4, 2017. Graduating the first group of volunteers on January 28, 2108. We are currently serving 168 children. Since opening the program we have served 230 with 62 children finding permanency. The goal of our program is to see that every child is safe, healthy, and has a permanent home.
