Engage in your community by teaching Junior Achievement's interactive curriculum to young scholars!

Who: Individual or group volunteers

What: Teach JA's curriculum to elementary students. The guidebook leads you through discussions and activities that allow students to learn about money, jobs, and big decisions.

When: Friday, December 13th; 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

Where: Lowell Elementary in Humboldt Park

Why:
We are looking for volunteers passionate about helping young people be prepared for their future. Our lessons focus on three pillars: financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Through games and activities, you can hand students the keys to their own economic success! No teaching experience necessary.

Junior Achievement is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. Volunteers bring our programs to life and ignite the spark in young people to understand the opportunities and realities of work in the 21st century.

As a volunteer you will be interacting with students directly in the classroom, sharing your professional wisdom and experience with the leaders of tomorrow! Our education programs are made specifically for non-educators -- Junior Achievement provides a full-length training session for all volunteers!

Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Our corporate and community volunteers deliver relevant, hands-on experiences that give students from kindergarten through high school knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world - enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.

Throughout JA's sequential and integrated kindergarten through high school programs, students think critically and solve complex problems. Through our business, financial, and entrepreneurial educational programs, we prepare students to:

  • Proactively manage their finances;
  • Become entrepreneurs; and
  • Develop skills that will be recognized and valued in a global workforce.

During the 2017-2018 school year, JA of Chicago successfully reached 600,222 students of all ages, races, ethnic backgrounds and physical capabilities, including at-risk youth in twelve Chicago-area and northwestern Indiana counties.
