During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Patient support volunteers provide companionship to the patient and respite for the caregiver. They can help by making care visits, writing letters, reading to patients and running errands. However, many times the most important thing the volunteer offers is just being there to listen, sharing quiet moments of contemplation or providing a gentle touch of friendship. We have two types of patient support visits, one is for socialization. You would be there to listen and share stories. Many times the patients are homebound and look forward to a visitor. The other type is caregiver relief. This would be to provide the caregiver an opportunity to leave the house to run errands and go to appointments, while you sit with the patient until the caregiver returns.
