The West End Museum is seeking a Program Assistant to support the Program Director in the creating and scheduling programs, and coordinating with various teams within the museum. Most of this volunteer position can be done remotely. You should be available to touch base with the program team once a week (via conference call). You should be able to commit to 5-10 hours per week for a period of at least 3 months.
Skills Needed
- Writing, communication, and organizational skills are a must
- Computer skills and comfort with social media platforms (e.g. Flickr)
- Creative and professional writing experience is a plus
- Editing experience is a plus
- Familiarity with fundamentals of marketing and/or community outreach is a plus
- Interest in the history and culture of Boston’s West End is a plus
Responsibilities
- Write event notices and other content, especially internal program marketing documents
- Work with Program Director to ensure that program announcements are consistent with the museum's mission
- Suggest programs and/or program concepts
- When available, staff programs and events to ensure positive experiences for museum patrons

About the West End Museum:
We are a Boston neighborhood museum seeking volunteers interested in the history and culture of the City of Boston, its immigrant era, and urban renewal. The Museum is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston.
You can expect to find a casual workplace of friendly Volunteers and Staff who are welcoming and eager to engage with the public. A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but an appreciation of its historical significance is helpful.
The Museum is conveniently located close to the MBTA Science Park/West End Station and North Station. Bowdoin Station is about a 10-minute walk.
