The West End Museum

The West End Museum is seeking a Program Sponsorships Coordinator to work with the Program Director and coordinate with the museum’s Advisory Board and other museum partners to ensure that appropriate sponsors are identified and developed for West End Museum programming. Most of this volunteer position can be done remotely. You should be available once a week to touch base with the program team, ideally on-site at the museum (or via conference call). You must be able to attend Advisory Board meetings on weeknights at 7:00 pm 5 times a year. You should be able to commit to approximately 5-10 hours per week for a period of at least 3 months.

Responsibilities Include

  • Coordinating with museum leadership to ensure that programs are sponsored in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that sponsorships and sponsorship materials match the museum's strategic goals
  • Coordinating with the Program Director, Executive Director, marketing, and operations to ensure that sponsorships are presented properly
  • Attend and/or staff programming events (when possible)
  • Other miscellaneous related duties as required

  • Able to work independently, as well as within a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive professional relationships
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Interest and/or prior experience with community outreach and fundraising
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to "manage up"
  • Interest in the history and culture of Boston’s West End is a plus

The Museum provides a space for past and present residents and the community; educates the public in history and urbanization; and preserves its material history and culture. The Museum seeks to challenge citizens to take an active role in shaping their communities.

About the West End Museum:

We are a Boston neighborhood museum seeking volunteers interested in the history and culture of the City of Boston, its immigrant era, and urban renewal. The Museum is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston.

You can expect to find a casual workplace of friendly Volunteers and Staff who are welcoming and eager to engage with the public. A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but an appreciation of its historical significance is helpful.

The Museum is conveniently located close to the MBTA Science Park/West End Station and North Station. Bowdoin Station is about a 10-minute walk.
