After the café stops serving in the morning, we need help cleaning up and doingdishes! This job is a little more active-- come prepared to roll the round wooden tables and put them away, clean up tablecloths and table settings, and sweep the ballroom floor.
This job is a really easy way to give back, requires little social interaction (if you don't want), and can happen every week or every other week! Currently the guests are not coming into the building - clean up is happening with appropriate social distancing and masks required!
About Agape Café
26 E Market Street, Iowa City, IA 52240, US
The Agape Cafe is committed to serving our homeless and in-need neighbors breakfast with dignity and respect. Our primary goals are to enhance self-esteem and promote wellness among our guests, our volunteers and ourselves.
The Agape cafe serves breakfast to approximately 65 guests each Wednesday morning between 7 AM and 8:30 AM and is open from 6AM to 9AM. Our guests select their meal from a menu that changes weekly but always includes eggs any style, bacon or sausage, homefries, toast, oatmeal or grits, juice and milk, coffee, pancakes or french toast, plus other specials like biscuits and gravy. Volunteer servers will wait on guests and then have a chance to sit and visit with them. We serve up a hearty dose of good food in an environment that encourages interaction between the volunteer staff and the guests.
