Florida Coalition to End Homelessness is currently recruiting volunteers for the annual Homeless Point in Time Count in Polk County, Florida. Please apply online: www.fchonline.org/volunteer
A Point in Time Count (PIT) is a snapshot of how many homeless individuals are in a community on a single day. Point-in-Time counts help communities plan services and programs to appropriately address local needs, measure progress in decreasing homelessness, and identify strengths and gaps in a community’s current homelessness assistance system.
The PIT Count will help our partner agencies apply for Federal and State funding, identify what programs are needed to serve those who are currently homeless in their communities, and provide education and advocacy regarding the homeless in our State. This data will be utilized to identify how effective our efforts have been and what programs are needed to address homelessness.
We are currently seeking volunteers who will work in shifts to interview homeless clients to answer questions utilizing a survey (either digitally or in paper form). Volunteers will work in teams with experienced PIT surveyors.
