Lunch Buddies Tutoring at Rupley Elementary School

Who: HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) needs YOU to inspire a love of reading in low-income students.

What: Lunch Buddies is an in-school tutoring program designed to promote favorable attitudes toward books. The program additionally strengthens the fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills of elementary school kids. Under the supervision of program staff and/or volunteer leaders, volunteers will enjoy lunch and work with small groups of first and second graders.

Where and When: Lunch Buddies will begin on January 22 and go through April 29. Volunteer tutors are needed on Wednesdays from 11:45 AM -12:35 PM at Rupley Elementary School (305 Oakton St., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007). Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check. Mandatory orientation/training will take place in January.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago is a nonprofit organization that connects volunteers with opportunities to make positive change in our communities. HOSC provides training and services to nonprofits, schools, organizations and corporations in north and northwest Cook and northern DuPage counties to build the capacity of their volunteer programs.

Volunteer opportunities are available for all ages. Opportunities to serve are found for individuals, families, corporations, service clubs, religious groups, schools and community organizations.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago offers volunteer opportunities through its partnerships with more than 150 social service organizations and schools. Hundreds of volunteer opportunities are available.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago celebrates 49 years of engaging volunteers. Since it's inception in 1969, we have been initiating, leading, supporting and promoting local volunteer groups.
