Mission Statement
In response to the family homelessness crisis, Family Promise of Warren County and the Interfaith Hospitality Network brings the faith community, volunteers from the community at large and community and civic groups together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. While IHN is a partnership of congregations and volunteers within a community helping families who are facing homelessness, it is not a faith based organization but rather a registered 501[c]]3] private nonprofit agency. The program offers an opportunity for volunteers to reduce homelessness and transform lives.
We are not a faith based organization, rather a 501[c][3] private non profit
Description
During the hosting period, volunteers work in several shifts over the course of a week to feed and assist the guest families. Prospective volunteers must attend a FPWC/IHN volunteer orientation presented by an agency representative or designated and trained volunteer. Boundary and judgment issues are reviewed at the orientation as well as an introduction to the mechanics of the program. Volunteers provide various services such as cooking and serving meals, playing with children and helping them with homework, or interacting with guests with respect and compassion. Guest families are hosted in Saint John Hall. Below is a typical shift schedule and list of activities performed during the hosting week. Two to four volunteers are needed for each shift.
Our most urgent need at this time is for secretarial
help and for van drivers.
