Are you looking for something to help keep you busy? Obtain volunteer hours? Find personal fulfillment? If you answered yes to one or all of these questions this opportunity may be for you.
We are looking for reliable volunteers to provide companionship to seniors living at NHC Dickson. This opportunity will give volunteers the chance to work with people at various stages of life. Volunteers will be exposed to active seniors, seniors under going physical rehabilitation, seniors that are slowly declining cognitively, seniors that are ill and declining rapidly, and seniors that have entered hospice.
Volunteers are encouraged to come in with a positive outlook and consider their time in the center as a way to bring someone joy. With the holidays coming around this is a wonderful chance to give back to your community in a positive way.
Volunteers will not be limited to just sitting with with patients. (Although, if that's what you'd like to do we will make that work.) Volunteers will work with a volunteer coordinator to find the experience you're looking for. Maybe you grandmother was under hospice care and you want to work exclusively with the hospice population? Maybe you have a dog that is an amazing companion that you'd like to bring around to visit with patients? Maybe you like running Bingo or other activities? Maybe you want to help every patient feel special and offer to paint nails. Whatever it is you like to do we will work with you to create an experience you will want to stick with.
The ideal candidate for these volunteer spots will be able to volunteer several times per month for 2-4 hours at a time.
