"Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond (GOTRGR) inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident through an after-school program that uses a fun, experience-based curriculum to empowers girls (grades 3-8) by creatively integrating running.
The GOTRGR Board is recruiting volunteers to join its dynamic board of directors. Specifically, we are seeking individuals with one or more of the following skill sets: (1) proven fundraising/development experience; (2) grant writing; (3) government/public sector relations; and/or (4) finance. We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to the Board's overall diversity and who live or work in the Greater Richmond Area.
All are welcome to apply. Interested individuals must be available for 12 board meetings annually (3rd Monday of the month), attend at least our three major events a year, make a financial contribution, be willing to serve on one committee, participate in fundraising and dedicate at least 4 hours per month in board service. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. We teach critical life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5Kevent.
The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime of appreciation of health and fitness.
