Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond (GOTRGR) in a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident utilizing a fun, experience & evidence-based curriculum to empowers girls (grades 3-8) by creatively integrating running.
The GOTRGR Board is recruiting volunteers to join its dynamic board of directors. Specifically, we are seeking individuals with one or more of the following skill sets: communications, social media, marketing, event planning, fundraising, finance, overall leadership, community and school involvement. We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to the Board's overall diversity and who live or work in the Greater Richmond Area.
All are welcome to apply. Interested individuals must live in the greater Richmond area, be available for 12 board meetings annually (3rd Monday of the month 6-8 p.m ET), attend at least our three major events a year, make a financial contribution, be willing to serve on one committee, participate in fundraising and dedicate at least 4 hours per month in board service. Board terms are two years in length.

Mission Statement
At Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond (GOTR) we envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. This vision becomes reality as we inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experienced-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Our council is working to bring diverse voices to the table as we know that unique perspectives strengthen the quality and scope of our organization. We pledge to be a reflection of the communities we engage, not only in appearance, but also through fostering an atmosphere of community connectedness that serves as a model for our girls and other stakeholders.
Description
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. We teach critical life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.
The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime of appreciation of health and fitness.
