Volunteers are a vital part of achieving our goals of bringing hands-on, fun and exciting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs to students. Our volunteers are instrumental in ensuring we meet our organizational goals and objectives. The STEAM Generation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that brings the wonder and excitement of STEM education (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) to children ages 4-14 through a variety of hands-on learning experiences.

As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. Right now, we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to our community. While there’s a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you!

Purpose and Authority

The STEAM Generation is currently seeking Fundraising Committee Chair Board Member with a passion for providing STEM educational opportunities to children in the underserved communities. The Fundraising Board Chair directs the board fundraising planning and activities, and directs and leads the Fundraising Committee. They participate in setting the organization’s strategic direction and provides leadership to ensure the organization achieves its goals and objectives supporting the accomplishment of the strategy. This role also serves as an active board member.The Chair will also be responsible for appointing a Co-Chair and a committee of no more that 5 members to execute on fundraising deliverables.

Fundraising Chair Responsibilities:

• Develop annual fundraising strategic plan with goals and priorities. Ensure progress toward annual and long-range goals
• Ensure committee meets at least once a month to discuss strategy and ongoing projects
• Commit to spend 10 hours a month on committee matters
• Work with the STEAM Generation President to define the short-term and long-term fundraising needs. Develop both Corporate Sponsors and Individual donor strategies
• Develop the event action plan/calendar for the year to support fundraising
• Identify and recruit community leaders to serve with Board members on the Fundraising Committee
• Provide input into development of the annual campaign, including direct mail, personal solicitation, and events fundraising (including private events, silent auction, etc.)
• Help plan and implement campaigns to solicit funds from the STEAM Generation community and beyond
• Develop and send Thank You communications and post-event surveys, after each event (with assistance from the Marketing Committee)
• Collaborate with Marketing Committee to develop marketing materials for fundraising events
