HarmonyCares Hospice is looking for a certified therapy pet owner who would like to support hospice patients/families. You will be providing hope, fun and laughter to patients and families who are coping with an end of life diagnosis. Volunteers are such an integral part of our team, and we would love to have you be a part of what we do at HarmonyCares Hospice!

If your pet has completed the pet therapy certificate from a nationally recognized organization such as Pet Partners, please call Melissa Clark today at 630-812-0251 and learn more about volunteering and making a difference in someone's life!

*All volunteers must be vaccinated for Covid-19, and will be required to have a physical, drug test, TB testing (Blood Test), and background check, all arranged and paid for by HarmonyCares Hospice. These are Illinois state requirements.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of day, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing

Description

Hospice care is not just for the patient. It also provides emotional support for the entire family. Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek agressive medical care at the end stage of life. Our program is for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. Our philosophy focuses on comfort care not currative care. Our goal is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. We also serve patients who are living in long-term and assisted living facilities.
