The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is seeking volunteers to act as a Head Coach and Mentors for a high school robotics team. Ideal candidates are fun-loving individuals who enjoy working with teens and have a background in engineering.

Roles:
Mentors direct students on either electrical, design, mechanical, or software engineering tasks. Provide training and/or feedback to students as needed.

In addition to the tasks the mentors do, the Head Coach also coordinates the operations of the team by interacting with and directing sub-teams, trains students on engineering principles and process, assists students in understanding the competition goals for the given year, assists students with strategizing, designing, building, and testing the robot, directs materials acquisition, interacts with other mentors and faculty.

Time commitment: All volunteering is done on the evenings and weekends. Typical hours are some Saturdays during the fall up through December (2 hours per week). Jan/Feb it's more like several nights a week (6-9pm) while building the actual competition robot. The Head Coach does not have to be there all the time, but he or she sets the schedule.
