ORGANIZATION: The New York Academy of Sciences

New York Academy of Sciences is recruiting volunteers for a Family Science Night in Manhattanville/West Harlem on Thursday, November 21 . Family Science Nights are interactive events that allow students to participate in engaging, hands-on STEM activities and meet real scientists and engineers. Families are invited to attend and participate in activities along with their children.

Volunteers can be undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and professionals in STEM fields. The time commitment is 2 hours. Volunteers arrive 15-20 minutes before the event to help set-up, then run STEM activity tables for 90 minutes. Activities include making slime, building catapults, measuring reaction time, DNA extraction, and gumdrop geometry.
