Help make a difference for a child in your community!
My Very Own Bed provides free beds for children who have recently moved into permanent housing. We also provide "Dream Kits," which include sheets, a blanket, a pillow, a book, and a stuffed animal.
One fantastic opportunity for getting involved is to make fleece-tie blankets for the dream kits. The kids love receiving their cozy new blankets, and volunteers love being creative with the colors and patterns of the fleece they use. Blankets can be made by individual volunteers, but are also a great virtual group activity.
Volunteers and groups make the blankets off-site, then drop them off here at our office in the Twin Cities.
If you haven't made fleece-tie blankets, we're glad to send you some basic instructions. Volunteers must supply the fabric for making blankets. Blankets will be considered an in-kind donation to the organization.
Note: We do offer the option for contactless drop-off of donated fleece-tie blankets. Please contact us for more information. Thank you!

Mission Statement
Provides new beds and linens to children of families who have recently secured stable housing
Description
My Very Own Bed was created to help families get one step closer to thriving in their new homes. By providing new beds and linens to kids who need them, we’re making those new homes more livable and restful. By making sure the beds and linens are new, we’re giving kids and families something all their own - not a hand-me-down. Our bed sets include a twin mattress and box spring, along with a Dream Kit that includes sheets, a pillow, and a stuffed animal. We make it easy on families by managing every step of the delivery, from transporting the beds to setting them up in each child’s room.
