Volunteer with the local US Air Force (USAF) Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Mobile Squadron is looking for enthusiastic people to become part of our all-volunteer non-profit organization chartered by Congress as the US Air Force Auxiliary.
Do you have a desire to volunteer and serve your community a few evenings per month?
Do you have an interest in becoming part of a Search & Rescue organization that saves numerous lives every year throughout Alabama and the United States?
As a volunteer with the CAP you can participate in Search and Rescue missions, training and practice exercises; and disaster relief efforts as part of the Auxiliary to the USAF.
The Civil Air Patrol also participates with other disaster relief and governmental organizations such as the Department of Homeland Security, DoD, FEMA and ALA EMA office of emergency services.
If you’re up for the task, CAP offers ordinary citizens stimulating training opportunities few experience outside the military.
Our volunteer members train diligently to acquire the life-saving and emergency service skills necessary to assist Federal and State humanitarian agencies when disaster strikes; participate in search and rescue missions; and help keep communities safe through homeland security effort.
While the central focal point of our effort is training and preparation of aircrew for the Alabama Wing fleet, there are many roles available to non-flying members such as radio communications, logistics, planning, and mission staff participation.
The following local Squadron is constantly training and preparing their members for the skills necessary to provide emergency services to the public in a time of need: Mobile Composite Squadron meets each Monday 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama.
We invite and welcome you to be our guest for an evening at one of our weekly squadron meetings. When you arrive, one of our members will give you a tour of CAP facilities. You'll also get a chance to meet some of our
members who will discuss the organization and provide you with informational pamphlets and accompany you for the evening to answer any questions you might have about the Civil Air Patrol. Qualifications: · Strong organizational skills, people, and communication skills. · Aged 18 or older for Senior (adult) members and 12 to 18 for Cadet members. · Willingness to become a member of the Civil Air Patrol. · Ability to pass a background check. · Enthusiasm for community service. Civil Air Patrol is congressionally chartered and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. CAP performs services for the federal government as the official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and for states/local communities as a nonprofit organization. CAP is made up of eight geographic regions consisting of 52 wings (the 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia). It is a strategic partner of the Air Force, serving as a member of its Total Force. CAP has three primary missions - Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education. Civil Air Patrol -Saves an average of 80 lives per year -Operates one of the largest fleet of single-engine piston aircraft in the world, with 560 planes currently in the fleet -Consists of 1,437 squadrons and approximately 56,000 volunteer youth and adult members nationwide -Flew over 104,500 hours in 2016 -Contributed nearly $167 million in man-hours in past year, serving the disaster relief and emergency service needs of communities, states and the nation.
