The Denver Hospice, founded in 1978, is the region's leading, largest and most trusted nonprofit provider of life-enhancing hospice and palliative care. Our skilled teams are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and care for patients wherever they reside - in their own homes, skilled-care facilities, hospitals or at our own Inpatient Care Center at Lowry.
We are looking for volunteers specifically in the Adams County area who want to give back to their community members facing a life-limiting illness and end-of-life transition. This can include visiting with patients, letter writing, playing cards, reading, and providing emotional support. Our greatest time of need is weekdays, however, evening and weekend volunteer placements are available.
We ask that all volunteers:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Are able to commit to volunteering for 1 year, a minimum of 2-3 times per month
- Complete an application
- Attend an in-person interview and training. These are held at our Administrative Offices in Glendale, CO but then you are paired with patients closer to your home and community. Please note: fee required for payment of a Criminal Background Check
- Submit monthly and as-needed documentation of all volunteer hours, regardless of role
- Complete yearly documentation requirements, including flu vaccination
- Advance hospice-related knowledge by completing 1 training or educational based learning each year

The Denver Hospice provides high-quality hospice and palliative care services for patients with advanced illnesses and injuries. Headquartered in metropolitan Denver area, we support patients and families throughout nine Colorado counties. The heart of this specialized care is the belief that every individual has the right to die pain-free and with dignity.
