Partnership Scholars Program is seeking volunteer mentors to help middle and high school students gain the cultural literacy and academic preparation that will help them succeed in college.
Mentors are matched with 2-3 students with whom they build a caring relationship and try new things together on a monthly basis.
PSP draws students from the El Monte, Lennox/Inglewood and Hawthorne communities. Interested candidates should be convenient to those areas.
Mentors are reimbursed for all mentoring expenses.

Mission Statement
Partnership Scholars Program's mission is to provide six years of educational and cultural experiences to academically motivated, but economically disadvantaged students, starting in the 7th grade, to promote college access and a lifetime of success.
Description
We operate a single program in seven different communities around California to advance our mission. Services provided through our core Scholars Program include mentoring, educational and cultural enrichment activities and college-access guidance. Through our program we help close the education gap by offering students from underprivileged backgrounds resources and opportunities comparable to their more affluent peers.
Students are selected in the 7th grade after undergoing a rigorous application process. They are paired with highly qualified mentors who build supportive relationships with students, interacting and communicating regularly and offering guidance about school, college and life. We help students obtain additional academic tutoring and provide them with educational materials and supplies, as needed. Program services vary based on the needs of each student and their current grade level. For instance, freshmen are introduced to college readiness course requirements, while seniors receive intensive assistance with college essays and applications. Each student participates, on average, in at least five hours of academic, enrichment or college-access activities monthly.
