The City of Austin has been recycling Christmas trees for over thirty years.

The Parks and Recreation Department is once again working in partnership with Austin Resource Recovery to host the 33rd Annual Christmas Tree Recycling event at Zilker Park. All trees will be turned into mulch that can then be picked up by area residents in mid-January.

TIME: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Sunday, December 29, 2019

If you are interested in volunteering at the Christmas Tree Recycling event this year please email Meredith Gauthier, PARD Recycling Program Manager, at meredith.gauthier@austintexas.gov, indicating the day and time that will work best for you. Volunteer shifts will be from 10am - 12pm or 12pm-2pm (and we welcome those who want to do both shifts!). We suggest that you dress according to the weather and bring a pair of work gloves if you have them available. We will provide T-shirts, snacks, and warm drinks for volunteers. This year, the age limit on volunteers is 18 and above.
