Be a part of the amazing Buckingham Gardens community by becoming a tutor for our Elementary and Middle school students! We are seeking tutors that can commit to 1.5 - 2 hrs/week to assist neighborhood youth in traditional Elementary and Middle school subjects
These students are an incredible, diverse group of kids from the Buckingham Neighborhood and neighboring communities in Arlington. You can help make a difference in their potential!
Note: All interested volunteers are subjected to a background check.
We plan on having these HW help Tutoring sessions as soon as we can get Volunteers
1-2 volunteers needed
Please reach out if you are available Tues or Thurs during after school hours.

Description
BU-GATA, short for Buckingham and Gates of Arlington , was established by Latino renters in 1992.
BU-GATA was created to stop displacement from a neighborhood multi-family complex, the Gates of Arlington. As the organization grew stronger, residents began to broaden BU-GATA’s focus to include community stability, and in 1998, addressed another neighborhood need - youth leadership development - by creating the Buckingham Youth Brigade.
As a community-based non-profit, BU-GATA has focused on defending tenants, educating residents about their rights, and fighting to preserve the community when gentrification threatens.
BU-GATA's mission is to serve Arlington's low-income, immigrant communities through education and leadership development programs, focusing on education and civic engagement in public policy issues.
