Use your talents and energy to lead workshops that promote health, wellbeing, and happiness to those who need it most! Mystic Valley Elder Services is looking for Healthy Aging Group Leaders to help people with chronic medical conditions to manage their medical problems and disabilities by leading workshops that support, educate, and nurture a greater control over their lives.

Group Leaders lead workshops at various locations across the 11 cities and towns served by Mystic Valley Elder Services. They encourage interactive discussion, as well as socializing, idea sharing, and problem-solving among the participants. Most importantly, the group leaders have fun!

Ideal candidates for this role have strong communication, interpersonal and listening skills. Leaders should be comfortable teaching, facilitating group discussions and role playing.

New leaders attend a Leader Training for the workshop(s) that they would like to facilitate. A leader is responsible for teaching the 6-8 week classes to participants in a community setting (weekdays, daytime hours).

Mission Statement

Mystic Valley Elder Services is a non-profit agency that provides essential home- and community-based care and resources such as assistance with personal care, household chores, meals, and transportation to more than 20,000 older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers living in 11 communities north of Boston. The communities include Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Stoneham, Wakefield and Winthrop.] Middlesex County RSVP has the dual mission of engaging persons 55 and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and providing a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of volunteers.


RSVP is one of three national Senior Corp programs under the umbrella of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Middlesex County RSVP is authorized to engage volunteers age 55 and older, applying their skills and life experiences to high impact programs that provide literacy tutoring for struggling students, safe independence for elders and adults living with disabilities, and other critical assistance. Middlesex County RSVP communities include: Arlington, Belmont, Burlington, Cambridge, Everett, Lexington, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield, Waltham, Watertown, Winchester, and Woburn. Sponsor Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES) also serves the communities of Chelsea, Winthrop, and Revere. MVES is a nonprofit organization that since 1975 has acted as an entry point through which elders, families, caregivers, and health care professionals can access a wide variety of programs, services, and supports. MVES is one of the largest in a network of 26 similar aging services organizations in Massachusetts. MVES promotes safe, independence for elders and adults living with disabilities in eight cities and towns north of Boston.
