We have many people that would like to volunteer with us, but do not have the capacity within our budget to facilitate a volunteer program without the help of (a) volunteer coordinator(s). That's where you can help!

YouthBuild Lake County is searching for a dedicated volunteer to help us create and manage a volunteer program. This will include collaborating with staff about upcoming volunteer needs and securing volunteers for the initiatives. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit for new volunteers and work with current volunteers. Volunteers are needed for activities such as mock interviews, ride shares, recruiting and canvasing for new members, attending community events on behalf of YBLC, special projects such as the appeal calls or donor mailings and other needs as they arise.

This is a volunteer position that will require a commitment of 15-20 hours per month. This position can be shared between two people or handled independently.

More detailed responsibilities of this opportunity include:

  • Use resources such as Volunteer Match, Craigslist, Social Media, etc to recruit for new volunteers.
  • Collaborate with YBLC staff to plan for upcoming volunteer needs.
  • Input volunteer information into our database including contact information and volunteer assignments.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to draft and send out social media, emails, etc. to volunteers regarding upcoming opportunities.
  • Follow up with volunteers regarding upcoming opportunities.
  • Organize quarterly training programs for volunteers. Program will be led by staff, but organization and attendance will be handled by the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with Program Staff to implement a mentoring program that includes dedicated, steady volunteers.
