Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: The Commonwealth of Oakland

For the second year we are organizing a friendship dinner for the tutors and students of Literacy Pittsburgh. Let’s honor their hard work by giving them some time for relaxing and enjoying a good meal!

You can help with cooking, setup (4-6pm) and/or cleanup (7:30-8:30pm).

About The Commonwealth of Oakland

Location:

100 N. Bellefield Ave, PITTSBURGH, PA 15213, US

Mission Statement

The Commonwealth is a progressive, Jesus-centered community of faith that is LGBTQ+ affirming. People from the city, the universities, and the street are gathering to create a community of peace in Oakland by practicing radical inclusion, generosity, creativity, storytelling, justice and gratitude to God.

Description

A spiritual practice of our community is a free dinner that we serve every month. It draws folks together from the universities, the neighborhood, and the homeless community.

Our menus embody quality, quantity and variety. Our tables are laid with colorful cloths, dishware, and flowers. Our food is served family-style. And our volunteers always sit down to eat and talk. It's a family dinner.
