By volunteering to contribute to the beautification of the grounds at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, future generations will continue to have the opportunity to learn about the events and the aftermath of the attack on December 7, 1941. It will also help to create a sense of dignity through the Pearl Harbor National Memorial Visitor Center and honor those that have served and gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assists the National Park Service maintenance staff with the upkeep of the Visitor Center by:
- Grounds Maintenance
- Sweeping, power washing, cleaning signs and benches
- Raking, pulling weeds, pruning, trimming, edging
- Trash pick up
- Facility Maintenance
- Exterior and interior building structure and equipment repairs
- Grounds Maintenance
- Other duties may apply during special events and projects.
- Cleaning exhibit halls and theaters. Glass, carpet, floors, walls and lights
- Knowledge of simple and common trade practices
- Ability to use simple gardening and maintenance tools
- Ability to work closely with the National Park Service and Pacific Historic Parks staff and park visitors
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors. May be required to wear protective clothing due to the task or weather.
- Covered shoes are required.
- Can lift to 25 pounds
- Stand, stoop, bend, kneel and work in other uncomfortable positions
