Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is an organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals in the New Orleans area, including responding to the immediate needs of those who are too old, too young, too sick, neglected, abused and deprived of love. ARNO promotes the foster, adoption and reunion of pets with caretakers as well as spaying and neutering all companion animals through our no-kill shelter.

Since 2006, over 10,000 animals would not have had a second chance without people like you - compassionate and dedicated volunteers that consistently give their time to walk, love, clean and socialize the shelter animals. Volunteer Responsibilities

• Establish positive relationships with clients in every sector, including government representatives and members of the media
• Prepare press releases, submit to the local media and stakeholders, and ensure the release always goes up on the organization’s website and social media accounts
• Pursue efforts to keep the non-profit’s public image positive, which can entail promoting events regularly
• Evaluate the effectiveness of specific events and advertising campaigns to determine which ones work well and which ones should be abandoned
• Attend special events put on by the non-profit, which can include parties or charity events, and speak with guests about the advantages of the organization
• Prepare budgets to determine the fundraising department’s financial needs
• Host fundraising events with other committee volunteers to increase overall efforts
• Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization
• Develop fundraising campaigns and monthly fundraising subscription program
• Explore sponsorship opportunities
• Foster an understanding of fundraising within the organization
• Recruit and manage volunteers as needed

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, fundraising or similar area

Preferred:

• At least five years of experience working in fundraising or public relations
• Experience leading a team to success
