Lutheran Church of the Cross, besides being a church also is landlord to a wide variety of community services. In addition to another congregation, we have a youth shelter, provide meals every weekday evening, and over 20 12 step meetings every week. Our building, however, is old and in need of repair in many places.
Our car wash proceeds go directly to our building fund, and we need volunteers to help us wash cars. No skills necessary, but an ability to stand and work for extended periods is helpful.
Looking for people to help two 2-1/2 hour shifts: 9-11:30 and 11:30-2
LCC is a nurtering community that reaches into the world, valuing radical welcome by showing Jesus through service to the homeless and poor, providing space for healing and restoration.
Established in 1966 as a merger of four Lutheran Churches in Berkeley, Lutheran Church of the Cross has had a relationship with our outside community for half a century, by hosting twelve step meetings, housing youth, and feeding homeless, seniors and poor on a weekly basis. Currently we house over 20 twelve-step meetings, and in addition to our Wednesday Night Spaghetti Dinner, our facility is home to the Berkeley Food and Housing Network's Quarter Meal the other four weeknights.
