Cooking Matters is a series of hands-on classes taught by volunteer nutritionists and chefs. The lessons are once a week for 6 weeks, and 2 hours each. The classes are intended to teach participants nutrition information, healthy food preparation, and shopping on a limited budget. The chef and nutritionist work together to teach the lesson and prepare a meal from the Cooking Matters curricula in class for everyone to share. The participants then receive a bag of groceries to recreate the meal at home. The classes are led and managed by volunteers, the roles being: chef, nutritionist, grocery shopper and classroom manager. Cooking Matters is a great way to empower families to eat healthier, shop smarter, and to learn how to make a few meals they might not have tried on their own. - The course only meets once a week from 5-7 on Monday evenigns. Must have transportation to and from the course.
