At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), we're passionate about our mission: to cureleukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. We fulfill this mission every day by providing information, resources, and support to those affected by blood cancers.
At LLS, we stand for equal treatment, equal opportunity, and equal rights for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), people with disabilities, Hispanics and Latinx, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, veteran, women, and other underrepresented groups.
LLS recognizes Black communities face significant health disparities directly associated with key social determinants of health, including poverty, inadequate access to medical care, educational inequalities, language barriers, individual and environmental factors, as well as bias in the healthcare delivery system. When it comes to blood cancer, Black Americans have twice the incidence of myeloma as white Americans. Further, Black Americans are significantly less likely to receive the latest treatments and are more likely to experience treatment delays.
We are looking for volunteer committee members who can help inform the outreach strategy for our Myeloma Link program by building and growing strong relationships with trusted community partners, both at the grassroots and mainstream levels. Join us as a volunteer and join the cause that’s having the most impact on finding new ways to fight cancer because beating cancer is in our blood. Sign up here: www.lls.org/PAvolunteer.
