Department: Marketing - Outreach
Classification: Unpaid internship.
Reports to: Marketing Outreach Lead
Schedule: 2-3 hours/week, between 9 am and 5 pm Monday-Friday, and 10-15 evening and/or weekend hours per month. Evening and weekend event hours will be confirmed 2-3 weeks in advance.
The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and committed intern to assist our Cade on the Road team, with various aspects of the museum’s outreach conducted at high-traffic events, fairs and festivals. This internship will provide real-world experience in event planning and on-site management, STEAM activity delivery, and post-event recaps. The position involves significant interaction with adults/parents and children of all ages both in the museum and other event settings.
Internship Duties:
- Assist Marketing Outreach lead with planning, set-up, and breakdown of events
- Assist Marketing Outreach lead and other Museum Educators with the facilitation of STEAM-bases activities. Training will be provided and no prior scientific or teaching knowledge is required
- Assist with post-event recaps, and other administrative tasks
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Comfortable interacting with the public including adults/parents, kids & teens
- Advocate for the Cade Museum with the public (all necessary information will be provided)
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office word

Description
The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention is named for Dr. James Robert Cade, a professor of renal (kidney) medicine at the University of Florida and the lead inventor of the sports drink Gatorade.
In 2004, Dr. Cade and his family established the Cade Museum Foundation to design and build a museum in Gainesville. The Cade Museum, which opened to the public on May 19th, 2018, reflects Dr. Cade's outlandish spirit, zest for life and new ideas and his constant, genuine interest in helping, motivating and encouraging people of all ages and experience.
