Born Free USA, a 501(c)3 wildlife advocacy and protection nonprofit, is looking for volunteers for their Silver Spring, Maryland office. Duties would included processing and logging signed petitions, updating the organization's e-alert list, and assisting with other clerical tasks. Volunteers will be accepted to work anytime between 10:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Wednesday, or Friday, for shifts of no less than one hour. Volunteers should be familiar Microsoft Excel. Born Free USA is a national animal advocacy nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, contributions to which are tax-deductible. Our mission is to end the suffering of wild animals in captivity, rescue individual animals in need, protect wildlife -- including highly endangered species -- in their natural habitats, and encourage compassionate conservation globally.
Description
We work actively with media and use powerful tools including legislation, public education, litigation, and grassroots networking to spread the word about challenges facing wildlife.
Through our campaigns, we work to end the use of animals in entertainment, captivity of exotic animals, trapping and fur trades, and international wildlife trade.
We also run the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary in Dilley, Texas. The sanctuary provides a safe, permanent home for hundreds of nonhuman primates (macaques, baboons, and vervets), many of whom were rescued from abusive situations in research facilities, roadside zoos, or private possession.

- We are looking for volunteers who are wiling to commit to at least one hour. Both short term and long term volunteers are welcome to inquire.
