Department: Education - Outreach
Classification: Unpaid internship. Hours may apply towards academic credit but are not required to.
Reports to: Outreach Coordinator
Schedule: 10-15 hours/week, between 9 am and 5 pm Monday-Friday. May require occasional evening or weekend hours.
The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and committed intern to assist with all aspects of the museum’s STEAM-based educational outreach programs. This internship will provide the student with real-world experience in outreach program development, delivery, and evaluation. The position involves administrative and research tasks, as well as direct interaction with children of all ages in the museum, school, and community settings.
Internship Duties
- Assist Outreach Coordinator with planning, set-up, and breakdown of program events
- Assist Outreach Coordinator and other Museum Educators with facilitation of outreach classes and school visits
- Assist with data tracking and entry, filing, and other administrative tasks
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Comfortable interacting with preschool-aged and elementary school-aged children
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, preferred

Description
The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention is named for Dr. James Robert Cade, a professor of renal (kidney) medicine at the University of Florida and the lead inventor of the sports drink Gatorade.
In 2004, Dr. Cade and his family established the Cade Museum Foundation to design and build a museum in Gainesville. The Cade Museum, which opened to the public on May 19th, 2018, reflects Dr. Cade's outlandish spirit, zest for life and new ideas and his constant, genuine interest in helping, motivating and encouraging people of all ages and experience.
