Unfortunately, these difficult times have caused more households to seek out food pantries for their basic needs. As essential parts of our community, these pantries are open, busier than ever, and in need of volunteers to help them continue to provide food to those in need. Our partner pantries have switched to pre-bagged pickup at the door and are taking all the CDC's recommended precautions to further decrease risks, so you can safely volunteer to do this important work.
Emergency Food Network partners with over 80 food pantries, shelters, and hot meal sites in Pierce County. Many of them rely entirely or almost entirely on volunteers to keep them running. There truly are tasks for people of all abilities and preferences, including packaging food, guest intake, delivery driving, shelf stocking, data entry, hot meal service, sharing healthy recipes, and more. Chances are there is one in your neighborhood with a perfect spot for you!

Mission Statement
The mission of Emergency Food Network is "to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse and nutritious food supply so that no person goes hungry."
Description
"Currently, 1 in 10 people in Pierce County face food insecurity, and this need is continuing to rise. Through our 75+ Partner Programs (food pantries, meal sites, and shelters) all over Pierce County, EFN distributed over 14 million pounds of food in 2023 to our neighbors in need, including fresh produce grown at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm. This work was made possible by our 2,000+ volunteers, who worked over 12,000 hours in 2023. Volunteer work is vital in helping EFN pursue our mission of ensuring no person goes hungry. Volunteer opportunities include the Repack Project, Home Delivery, EFN’s Mother Earth Farm, and special events throughout the year. We hope you will join us!"
