Mangalam Center, in Downtown Berkeley, CA, is looking for volunteer photographers who could help us with taking pictures during the events hosted in its Mindful Art Gallery. The pictures will be used to document the events on the Center's website and other social media.

The Mindful Art Gallery is currently running until Nov. 9th at the Mangalam Center located in front of the YMCA on Allston Way. The Gallery features 64 pieces by 32 artists from the Bay, the US, and Europe. The artists used mindfulness as part of their creative process, and we offer our viewers a space for yoga and mindfulness throughout the exhibition.

Volunteering photographers will help with taking pictures during the following events:

Humans Being: October 23 & October 30 & November 6, 2019 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm
This is a mindfulness meditation and conversation session conducted in a relaxed, inclusive space. People will be practicing with an approach called Full Presence Mindfulness, which invites to open to the full range of experience.

The Joy of Being a Poet: October 25, 2019 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
This is an evening of poetry readings in the gallery space Mangalam Center’s Mindful Art Gallery.

Vibrations and Vinyasa: October 28 & November 4, 2019 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This is an immersive experience of practicing vinyasa yoga to music with a live DJ in our Minful Art Gallery. Yoga is a way to calm the mind's regular patterning. Combining yoga with the right music and in a room filled with inspirational mindful art, we look forward to an expansive and centering practice.

Lunch Break Meditation: October 29 & November 5, 2019 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm
This is a free 30 minute practice session every Tuesday at noon led by Marion Frank, a teacher of Kum Nye. Kum Nye, also known as Tibetan Yoga, involves very light and rejuvenating movement practices that balance the body and mind. Marion presents these exercises together with the Just Breathing grounding meditation-a Full Presence Mindfulness technique-gently guiding the class back to present moment awareness.

Contemplative Jazz: November 7th, 2019 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This is a night of embodiment through music, dance, and stillness. Together we will begin to slow down and ground in the sensations of our bodies, allowing for the capacity of our individual and collective care to naturally rise to the surface. Let us ask ourselves, "Did I remember to live today?"

Gallery Closing & Auction: November 9th, 2019 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
A silent auction will be conducted on the closing night of the Gallery. Auction participants will purchase art pieces through silent bids, and bid results will be disclosed on that night.

After the event, photographers will be invited to share their pictures with the Mangalam staff through agreed-upon media.

If you are interested in signing up for some (or all) of the above-mentioned shifts, please contact us
