ORGANIZATION: NAMI WASHINGTON COUNTY INC

Co-leads the NAMI Basics Education Course which is a free, 6-week education program for parents and family caregivers of children and teens who are experiencing symptoms of a mental illness or who have already been diagnosed. NAMI Basics helps parents and other family caregivers of children to understand the illnesses that are causing behavioral difficulties, and the critical role families play in the treatment of those illnesses.

Requirements: Prospective teachers must be parents or other primary caregivers of an individual who exhibited mental illness symptoms prior to age 13 (the formal diagnosis may have been made years later, but symptoms appeared prior to age 13).
